What Did I Do to Deserve This?
Do you remember as a kid disobeying your parents and being punished? Maybe you were sent to your room, put on restriction, or received a spanking. For me, whichever one it was, it certainly felt like a hard season. I can recall thinking, or even asking my parents, “What did I do to deserve this?”
As an adult, I know that hard seasons come to all of us without invitation. And in my heart of hearts I know and believe, “God works out all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
However, in the midst of one of these life battles, there are moments that catch us off guard. The hours when we are the most vulnerable is when the enemy pounces and hits us with accusations and what if’s. Then panic begins to set in. And as if I were a child again, I’ll question God, my heavenly parent, with, “What did I do to deserve this mess?”
I share the answer to this question in an article over at She Found Joy. Please join me there for the rest of the devotional.
Looking forward, pressing on and seeking God in every bump and twist in my road.
