In My Rear View Mirror

January 2, 2022 by Christy

Philippians 3:13-14, “ Brothers (and sisters) I do not consider that I made it on my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind, and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (emphasis mine)

As I look back at 2021 from my rear view mirror I find myself pondering a few things.

A life without regrets is one without mistakes.

A life without mistakes is one where no lessons are learned.

A life without lessons learned is one void of growth and maturity.

A life without growth and maturity is motionless.

Stagnant.

Lifeless.

Do I want that?

No!

Instead, let me praise God for the regrets, mistakes, and learn lessons.

Because I’m eager to learn. I want to push forward. I desire to see growth.

And I can leave the past where it is.

In my rear view mirror.

Today, right now, I can offer forgiveness and let go of bitterness. For every new day offers a fresh opportunity to mature in God’s love through His Word.

So let’s seize this moment together and say goodbye to 2021 and every other year before, and press on to what lies ahead.

Father God, thank you for the privilege of being here in 2022 to serve and worship You. Give us the discipline to leave the past where it lies, and to move forward into the goodness You have for us through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus.  May we keep our thoughts centered on things above not on things of this earth. For it is in You we find our hope and strength. To God be the glory. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Happy New Year!

Looking forward, pressing on and trusting God in every bump and twist in my road.

Not Everything Has an Expiration Date

August 19, 2019 by Christy

Perish, spoil and fade. We meet up with these three terminal words every day here in the land of the living.  Because everything has an expiration date. Everything is slowly dying. What I love, What I Hate Fresh cut flowers on a table make me smile. My daughter-in-law filled me in that I could get several stems of hydrangeas at Trader Joe’s for only a few bucks.  This is a great deal but unfortunately, alas, after a week or less they’ll start to droop, fall apart and then poof! Where Do You Place Your Hope?

August 5, 2019 by Christy

When a hard season arises (like the one I’m in now) where there are questions with seemingly no answers, where do you turn?  Where do you place your hope? In God? I do.  But is my hope fully in Him or do I try to find it in people?  Truthfully, I do find myself wanting a human, someone I can visually eyeball, to give me a solution — throw me a lifeline.  And friends will generally give a quick answer. With God, it seems I almost always have to wait. I’m sure you can relate to that Continue Reading

"Christy is a gifted communicator. I had many women come to me afterwards and tell me she was the best speaker we have had for this event. I particularly loved how she shared Scripture first and then showed us how it was applicable by using a personal story from her life. So many people were moved — so many hearts were touched."
