No, the 4th of July is one day where everyone acknowledges where this country came from. Why we fought and what we fought for. Our independence. Our freedoms. We are a unique nation. A people set apart.
The fabric of America was stitched together by those who wanted religious freedoms. Freedom to worship God. The God of Abraham, and Isaac. There is no denying that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. Though we welcome the freedom for all people to worship as they choose.
Our country was based upon beliefs such as loving our neighbors and giving aide to the poor. The U.S. continues to step across borders in her humanitarian efforts to help others. We have been setting this tone across the world for many years.
However our land has felt a culture change of late. Most of us just scratch our heads at the absurdity of some of it. But here’s the one stabilizing thing I know – God doesn’t change. He is still in control. In God we trust!
And I believe in the power of prayer.
So may I encourage you this Independence Day to pray for the direction of our country and for her leaders. Pray that America may continue to be a safe haven and a free nation who welcomes all people.
Others seek us out for who we are. As Americans, may we resolve to not give in to the pressure to be something other than what defined us. What made us great.
I’m proud to be an American! A nation that’s different. A people set apart.
