I love to pray. Really I do. I’d like to say I’m a prayer warrior. But there are those days when I open the prayer request email from my church and see all the sickness, all the hurting, all the needs and I’m simply overwhelmed.
My heart hurts.
I’m exhausted before I ever start praying.
I think to myself, if I prayed over all these, including my family, and my friends that call and ask for prayer, and all the other prayer requests I hear during a given day, I literally could pray all day and night and never finish.
I believe that’s called, praying without ceasing, in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
I remember the day when I fasted my phone. I made a deal with myself. Before I could pick up my iPhone to use for any reason, I would first pray.
By sundown I was spent.
Here’s the good news as written in Isaiah 40:27-28, God is never spent.
You and I may grow weary and overwhelmed by the needs of others but God never will.
The Lord is the everlasting God. He will never grow tired and weary.
And He never sleeps! (Psalm 121:4)
He’s not only on call 24 hours a day, He listens and He understands. He understands our needs, our pain, and even our ridiculousness, and takes care us all the same. Just as we would take care of your children, our Heavenly Father provides for us.
Oh may we not complain when things don’t happen on our timetable. His understanding is unfathomable. We cannot begin to comprehend what He is doing or planning on our behalf.
We must take Him at His word. His good and perfect Word.
Praise be to God. He is worthy of praise.
Making Mondays less mundane with a word from the Word.
Looking forward, pressing on and seeking God in every bump and twist in the road.
