It’s autumn, Florida!
To get my mind in sync with the calendar, I turn the air way down, and pull out the orange, reds and browns, and dress my home for fall. Just because the outside doesn’t change doesn’t mean the inside can’t.
Romans 12:13 says… “Always be eager to practice hospitality.”
I want my home to say welcome to everyone. I love to “say it” in part by changing things up with each season.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to practice hospitality by welcoming my kids home. This was the first time we’ve all been together since the first week in June.
Nothing says welcome home like an open door, an inviting smile, and the smell of something warm and sweet baking in the oven.
Now, I can dress myself, and I can dress a table, but don’t call me to dress a turkey…meaning, I’m not a great cook. However, there is one recipe I do make well and that is pumpkin bread. My girlfriend Molly gave me the recipe years ago and it immediately became a family favorite. It’s a must on the table when the calendar says it’s fall.
I’ve had so many requests for this recipe over the years I wanted to share it with you today (if you can read my handwriting!).
In spite of the nor’easter that blew in Friday, our time together was not all washed out. There was plenty of family picture-taking, football watching, golfing, shopping, eating, and fellowship.
Today the sun came back out and we even detected a slight coolness to the breeze (engage your imagination)….could it be that autumn is really on its way to Florida?! Nah, probably not but we can always hope!
