1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.
David and I had a wonderful time on our recent anniversary trip to Europe.
Even though we traveled about two countries where there was a communication barrier, we never felt it because we enjoyed the company of friends who knew the culture and could speak the language.
You might say they were our mediator or advocate; translating our hillbilly English into lyrical French and hand-expressive, dramatic Italian.
Having our friends with us granted us freedom to relish our journey.
However there were two days we were alone. Left to fend for ourselves we then felt the burden of the communication barrier. There was an overwhelming perception of separation between us and everyone else. It was as if someone had turned off the lights and we were wandering around in the dark.
I immediately thought this must be similar to the way it feels to navigate in this world without Jesus.
Without Jesus we have a communication barrier with God. That barrier is called sin. Simply stated, God is holy and we are not. But lucky for us, He sent His Son on our behalf so that we may have light in our dark world.
Jesus gave His life so that we may have the freedom to enjoy this world in communion with the Creator.
Just as our friends were with us so we could have a relationship with the French and Italians, Jesus came to afford us a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
And I am thankfully “joying” in the journey
